Motion text
That this House is deeply concerned by reports of the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu labourer, in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, in December 2025, following an incident of mob violence; expresses grave alarm at continued reports of attacks, intimidation and violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh, including members of the Hindu community; notes with concern allegations that accusations of blasphemy are being used to incite mob violence and undermine the rule of law; emphasises the fundamental importance of freedom of religion or belief and the protection of minority communities; urges the Government of Bangladesh to ensure a full, transparent and independent investigation into this killing and to hold those responsible to account; calls on the UK Government to raise concerns about religiously motivated violence through its bilateral engagement with Bangladesh and in relevant international forums; and reaffirms its commitment to upholding human rights, religious freedom and the protection of vulnerable communities worldwide.
