Motion text

That this House expresses its strong support for the people of Iran, and their courage and resolve in their ongoing struggle against all forms of dictatorships of the past and present and for freedom, human rights, and a democratic republic, where people of Iran have the opportunity to elect their own representatives; condemns all acts of violence, including the death of 32 protesters, oppression, and restrictions on peaceful protest and free expression by Government and IRGC; notes the bravery of Iranian citizens advocating for the rule of law and that the UK Government must stand with the Iranian people and continue to support democratic movements globally; and confirms its commitment to the principles of democracy, freedom and the protection of rights.
