Motion text
That this House notes the 34th anniversary of The Teebane Massacre which took place on 17 January 1992 at a rural crossroads between Omagh and Cookstown in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland; remembers that a roadside bomb detonated and destroyed a van carrying 14 construction workers who had been repairing a Security Installation in Omagh; condemns once again the murder of eight men and the wounding of the rest in that van whose only crimes was to carry out construction work; further condemns the rhetoric that carrying out this work made them collaborators and subsequently targets of an evil band of people who had no respect for life; urges those with information to come forward highlighting that there has never been anyone charged or convicted for these cowardly and despicable murders; and continues to remember those families who mourn and those who are still living with the physical and mental scars to this day.
