Motion text

That this House acknowledges the importance of the Drumchapel Way, a woodland walkway in Glasgow West constituency; understands that the walkway, roughly 4.5 miles long, provides locals and visitors with a scenic and tranquil escape into nature on the edge of the City; recognises that the walkway passes through Garscadden Woods as well as near Castle Hill, the site of an ancient Roman fort, with beautiful views across Glasgow, as well as allowing visitors to experience a variety of animals and wildlife, such as horses and deer; notes that the walkway is also part of the route for Drumchapel Park Run, allowing runners the chance to get out of the city and run in a wilder, greener terrain; congratulates Glasgow Times journalist Stewart Paterson on walking the Drumchapel Way and writing an article in the newspaper about his experience, helping to raise awareness of this valuable rural space within the City; highlights the work of Ramblers Scotland who are recruiting Path Checker volunteers to monitor conditions on the walkway, suggest future improvements, and help to tackle issues of littering and fly tipping; and encourages locals and visitors to Glasgow to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful scenery the Drumchapel Way has to offer.
