That this House celebrates Burns Night 2026, marked annually on 25 January, commemorating the life and work of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet; notes that Burns was one of the greatest poets whose work continues to resonate across around the world; underlines his significant contribution to poetry, song and the preservation and elevation of the Scots language and culture; further highlights his influence on literature and cultural identity, reflecting the shared heritage between Scotland and Ulster; welcomes the continued celebration of Burns Night by communities across Northern Ireland and Scotland and further afield in the Scots diaspora; and expresses the desire that Burns Night should continue to be celebrated by generations to come.
