That this House registers its concern that Lloyds Banking Group plans to close 95 local branches this year, including in Tewkesbury; acknowledges the value of high street banks to local communities, particularly the elderly and those without easy access to public transport; recognises the harm bank closures have on rural communities and small towns, where they may be the only in-person banking facilities available within a reasonable distance; and calls on the Government to increase support for community banking hubs and protect access to cash in rural areas.
