Motion text
That this House congratulates The Snug Bookshop and Cafe in Huish Episcopi on being named one of the six winners of the Realising the Remarkable grant; notes that this initiative is run in collaboration with Enterprise Nation and VistaPrint, awarding £30,000 in funding to small businesses that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their local community, with each winner receiving a grant of £5,000 to expand their local independent businesses; understands that Sam Carr, the owner of The Snug Bookshop and Café, won the grant to realise her ambition of expanding her shop into the shop unit next door to create a larger book and reading space for children, to host storytelling sessions and author events; expresses gratitude for Sam’s dedication in increasing access to books, helping to improve literacy rates across the area and for providing a warm and welcoming, communal space for all local residents to connect; and calls on Members to join in wishing Sam and The Snug Bookshop and Cafe every success in growing and developing her business.
