That this House congratulates Dame Anne Pringle on her election as Chancellor of the University of St Andrews; notes that she is the first woman to hold this office in the University’s more than 600-year history; recognises her distinguished career in public service, including as the first woman to serve as the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Russia and her earlier service as Ambassador to the Czech Republic; acknowledges her strong and continuing contribution to the University as an alumna, former Senior Governor of University Court and generous supporter of student scholarships; welcomes her commitment to championing opportunity, academic excellence and global engagement; and wishes Dame Anne Pringle every success in her new role as the ceremonial head of Scotland’s oldest university.
