Motion text

That this House celebrates International Women’s Day 2026 and recognises the challenges faced by women over the past year; expresses concern that violence against women and girls continues to result in approximately 100 to 200 deaths annually in the UK; emphasises the importance of involving women in placemaking to help reduce violence and improve safety; notes with concern the absence of reference to the Government’s new Violence Against Women and Girls strategy in the revised National Planning Policy Framework; and calls on the Government to reconsider the need for women’s inclusion in placemaking processes and to acknowledge the critical importance of ensuring women’s voices are central to these decisions.
