Motion text
That this House congratulates Hollie Davidson on making history as the first female referee to officiate a Men’s Six Nations match, having taken charge of Ireland’s victory over Italy at the Aviva Stadium on 14 February 2026; notes that since becoming Scotland’s first full-time female referee in 2017, Davidson officiated her first men’s fixture in 2021, with nearly a quarter of her career matches now having taken place in the men’s Test arena; celebrates Davidson being named World Rugby’s Referee of the Year for 2025; commends her outstanding achievements and contributions to rugby; and recognises this as an important step forward for women’s representation in rugby, demonstrating that success at the highest level of officiating is based on ability and merit, paving the way for future generations of women and girls in the sport.
