Motion text

That this House notes with deep concern the ongoing injustice facing women born after 6 April 1950 failed by the implementation of UK Government changes to the State Pension Age; further notes that affected women have been left in financial hardship, uncertainty and distress due to poorly communicated decisions; condemns the UK Government’s decision to ignore the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman’s recommendations by twice refusing compensation for 1950s women, despite acknowledging that maladministration did take place; calls on the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to begin mediation with representatives of all affected women’s groups, who have campaigned tirelessly against this injustice over too many years; and urges the UK Government to reverse its decision on compensation, and finally deliver justice, accountability, and overdue financial redress.
