70th anniversary of Crawley's councils

That this House notes that 70 years has passed since Crawley Urban District Council gave the New Town of Crawley its own principal authority for the first time on 1 April 1956; and recognises the enormous contribution made by the urban district and borough councils in delivering for the people of the town over subsequent decades in areas such as housing and benefits, economic development and infrastructure, leisure and culture, planning and development control, neighbourhood services, community facilities, elections and democratic services, emergency planning, licensing and enforcement, environment and sustainability, health and wellbeing, cemeteries and waste management and recycling.
