100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough

That this House acknowledges with pride and gratitude the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough on Friday 8 May 2026; honours his long and groundbreaking career as the preeminent storyteller of our natural history and the natural world; notes that the BBC has commissioned a number of new shows to mark Sir David’s 100th birthday including a dedicated collection of 40 of Sir David's most-loved programmes that will be made available on BBC iPlayer; further notes that the Royal Albert Hall will be host to a national celebration of Sir David’s life on the evening of his birthday, Friday 8 May 2026; recognises that Sir David has been presenting on our tv screens, and throughout the world, since 1954; thanks Sir David’s family, not least his late wife, Jane, Lady Attenborough for sharing Sir David with the nation for so many years and; wishes Sir David Attenborough a very happy 100th birthday.
