That this House recognises the significance of the recent weekend fixture in the Women’s Six Nations Championship held at Murrayfield Stadium; welcomes the continued growth and public profile of women’s rugby union across the Home Nations and beyond; acknowledges Murrayfield Stadium as a world class venue that has played a pivotal role in promoting women’s sport on a national and international stage; notes the record crowd size at the match with over 30,000 in attendance, the highest standalone women’s sporting event in Scotland, reflecting the increasing demand for women’s elite sport; congratulates Scottish Rugby and the Six Nations organisers for their commitment to equality, visibility and investment in the women’s game; and calls on sporting bodies, broadcasters and the Government to continue supporting and expanding opportunities for women and girls to participate in rugby and other sports more broadly.
