Motion text

That this House congratulates Pritpal Singh Nagi MBE DL, in the warmest terms, on his appointment as High Sheriff of Staffordshire; welcomes the important fact that Mr Nagi is the first Sikh to hold the historic position of High Sheriff in Staffordshire; notes Mr Nagi’s long career as a local businessman in North Staffordshire; acknowledges that Mr Nagi was formally sworn in on 30th March 2026 and attended his first court opening on 20 April 2026 at the Collegiate Church of Saint Mary in Stafford; recognises the important role that Mrs Ruby Nagi plays in supporting the High Sheriff as he carries out all his duties; gives thanks for the many years of support that the High Sheriff has given to Keele University, in Newcastle-under-Lyme, as one of the inaugural members of its College of Fellows; further notes that the High Sheriff’s commitment to community engagement and Armed Forces initiatives earned him an MBE in 2017 for his contributions to business and charity in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire; and sends its best wishes to Pritpal Singh Nagi MBE DL and Mrs Nagi for the year ahead.
