Motion text

That this House calls on the Government to discontinue the UK-France one-in-one-out pilot; notes that the scheme has resulted in serious human rights violations, including impacts on children and survivors of torture and trafficking, as documented by organisations working with affected communities; further notes that United Nations experts have called on the UK and French Governments to end the pilot; observes that there is no clear evidence that the scheme has deterred dangerous Channel crossings; believes that the scheme has failed to create an adequate safe route for those in need of protection due to its narrow and exclusionary scope; and urges the Government to end the pilot immediately and to work with international partners to establish safe, accessible and humane routes for people seeking protection.
