Motion text
That this House expresses concern at the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few as seen by the increase in wealth of the 350 richest people in Britain; notes that the Sunday Times Rich List has increased its wealth by £11 billion since last year and a massive £526 billion since the financial crash; further notes that the richest 50 families in Britain now own more wealth than 36 million British people; recognises that elite wealth has surged whilst working people have seen a decline in wages, increases in the costs of housing, energy and water, and raising inflation on essentials such as food; and demands that the Government urgently redresses the balance of wealth by introducing a wealth tax, levelling up dividends and capital gains tax with tax on earned income, and investing in all regions and nations of Britain to create jobs, increase productivity and unleash innovation.
