Motion text
That this House celebrates the tireless dedication and professionalism of staff at Torbay Hospital, as well as health and social care staff across Torbay and Devon; notes with concern the scale of required savings and spending cuts across Devon NHS Trusts and the potential impact on the quality, safety, and accessibility of local health services; further notes with concern that, despite increases in employer National Insurance Contributions, Torbay Hospital is not receiving sufficient financial support to meet rising demand and cost pressures, including for its more deprived and older populations; commends the importance of maintaining Torbay as a fully functional general hospital serving communities across Torbay, the South Hams and Teignbridge, providing core services including urgent and emergency care, cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, surgery, maternity, gynaecology, services for children and young people, and outpatient services, supported by essential diagnostic, pharmacy, and therapy services to ensure comprehensive acute care for all who depend upon it; and praises the efforts of the local community in highlighting the risks associated with any reduction in the capacity and capability at the Hospital, including hospital staff, patients and campaigners such as the Heart Campaign.
