That this House congratulates the Scotland men's national football team on qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026, Scotland's first appearance at the tournament since 1998; recognises the achievements of the current squad, coaching staff and support team in restoring Scotland as a regular participant at major international tournaments; acknowledges the contribution of the Scottish Football Association, grassroots clubs, volunteers and youth coaches in developing the next generation of Scottish talent; notes the positive impact that the tournament can have in inspiring young people to participate in sport; further recognises the unifying effect of Scotland's participation across the nation's cities, towns, rural and island communities; further notes the economic benefits that the tournament is expected to bring to domestic pubs and hospitality businesses; further acknowledges that the tournament's staging in the United States, Canada and Mexico will provide an opportunity for Scotland's diaspora, particularly in North America, to support the national team; and wishes Scotland every success in the tournament.
