Infected Blood Inquiry compensation

EDM (Early Day Motion) 373: tabled on 15 June 2026

Tabled in the 2026-27 session.

This motion has been signed by 33 Members. It has not yet had any amendments submitted.

Motion text

That this House notes the findings of the Infected Blood Inquiry and the recommendation of Sir Brian Langstaff that compensation should be delivered with urgency and in a manner that is simple, fair and speedy; recognises that victims and bereaved families have already waited decades for justice; further notes that prolonged delays have reduced the real term value of compensation awards during periods of inflation; believes that no victim should suffer financial disadvantage as a result of administrative delays beyond their control; and therefore calls on the Government to uprate outstanding compensation awards in line with inflation from the commencement of the scheme until the date of payment and to provide equivalent supplementary payments to claimants who have already received compensation in order to ensure equal treatment across all recipients.
