Refugee World Cup Scotland 2026

Motion text

This House congratulates the success of the Refugee World Cup Scotland 2026 which recently took place in Toryglen Football Centre in Glasgow; commends the organisers, Glasgow Afghan United, on a successful event that included teams of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and local players from more than 50 countries who came together to celebrate football and their community; recognises the work of the organisers in making this event happen and for their broader work with refugees in Scotland; thanks the organisers, participants, volunteers, players and supporters for demonstrating the strength that sport can have to bring communities together to celebrate the contributions of refugees to Scotland; and wishes all involved the very best of luck in organising this event again in the future.
