Motion text

That this House recognises the 25 years of service provided by Crosshouse Hospital Volunteers; notes that the volunteer team evolved from the former WRVS group and has continued to demonstrate exceptional commitment to patients, families and staff at University Hospital Crosshouse; further notes that the volunteers have raised over £5 million for improvements including refurbished relatives’ rooms, specialist beds and mattresses, birthing beds and equipment for children; acknowledges the vital role played by the shop, café, trolley service and maternity unit volunteers in supporting the daily life of the hospital; pays tribute to long serving volunteers including Morag Auld, Anne Borthwick, Margaret Cuthbertson, Jean Gray, Marlyn Morton, Morag Short and May Steel, alongside many others with over two decades of service; further recognises the contribution of younger volunteers completing Duke of Edinburgh and Caritas awards; and commends the leadership of manager Mary McCann and depute Agnes Shaw in sustaining one of Scotland’s most successful hospital volunteer services.
