That this House notes with friendly acknowledgment that the United States of America marked its semiquincentennial on Saturday 4th July 2026; recognises that the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence is an important milestone for the people who call the United States of America home and for the special relationship between the UK and the US; further recognises the successful State Visit of their Majesties to the United States in April 2026, including the address to the joint session of Congress given by His Majesty the King; celebrates the strong ties of family and friendship that bind the two countries and peoples together; gives thanks to His Excellency Ambassador Warren Stephens, the United States Ambassador to the Court of St James, and Mrs Stephens for their work here in the UK to further the relationship and ties between our two nations; further notes the importance of being honest and open partners and the power of disagreeing without being disagreeable; and extends its very warmest good wishes to the people of the United States as they celebrate this historic milestone in their national story.
