Motion text
That this House recognises the extraordinary commitment of John MacDonald, who completed a 246-mile walk from Dunblane to Manchester to raise funds and awareness for Men Matter Scotland, a Drumchapel-based charity supporting men’s mental health; commends John’s determination in completing the journey over 12 days in support of an organisation that provides a lifeline for thousands of men across Scotland; acknowledges that John undertook this challenge not only as a fundraising effort but also as a personal journey of reflection, resilience and mental wellbeing; praises his courage in openly discussing his own experiences and highlighting that men’s mental health remains an issue requiring greater understanding and support; celebrates the dedication of Men Matter Scotland’s volunteers and supporters, who continue to deliver essential services despite relying heavily on donations and fundraising; congratulates John on successfully completing this remarkable challenge and raising thousands of pounds; and further recognises the awareness that his achievement has raised of the importance of speaking openly about mental health.
