That this House notes with sadness the closure of Meredith's, the family run hardware store and ironmongers that has traded in Yate Shopping Centre since it opened and is one of the last of the centre's original shops, serving the community for 60 years since the centre's opening in 1965; recognises that Meredith's has been a much loved fixture of Yate life across the generations, remembered with great affection by the local community; pays tribute to its owner, Patrick Meredith, for six decades of dedicated service, warmth and expertise to the people of Yate and South Gloucestershire, as one of the town's longest serving independent traders; congratulates him on a remarkable career; and wishes Patrick a long, happy and fulfilling retirement.
