Motion text

That this House celebrates the award of £40,000 from the Pride in Place Impact Fund to the Ramblers Association for its Pride in the Drumchapel Way project; recognises that the Drumchapel Way is a roughly 4.5-mile circular woodland and countryside route in Glasgow West constituency, passing through Garscadden Woods and other green spaces and nature reserves, near Castle Hill, the site of a Roman fort, and offering views across Glasgow and opportunities to see wildlife including deer; notes that the route forms part of the Drumchapel Park Run, providing runners with a greener, more natural setting; welcomes the work of the Ramblers Association and local Path Checker volunteers in monitoring the route, tackling litter and fly-tipping, identifying maintenance issues and proposing improvements; further recognises that the project will support volunteers to improve way-marking, address maintenance concerns and make the route more accessible, attractive and enjoyable; further notes that the £40,000 award is part of Glasgow City Council’s £1.5 million city-wide capital grants programme, funded through the UK Government’s £150 million Pride in Place Impact Fund and targeted at communities most in need; and congratulates the Ramblers Association, local volunteers and Drumchapel residents on securing this funding and encourages residents and visitors to enjoy this valuable local green space.
