Motion text

That this House condemns the systematic persecution of Ahmadiyya Muslims in Pakistan; deplores the violence, disenfranchisement, arbitrary arrest, and restrictions on religious practice Ahmadis endure daily under Pakistan’s blasphemy and anti-Ahmadi laws; denounces the desecration of Ahmadi graves and mosques by Pakistani police; and calls upon the Government to implement the findings of the 2026 IHRC Annual Report and its five actions, first, to make full voting rights, equal citizenship and constitutional protections for Ahmadis a named demand in every bilateral engagement with Pakistan, second, to press Pakistani authorities to protect Ahmadi mosques and cemeteries, third, to use the UK’s Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations 2020 against named perpetrators of serious human rights abuses against Ahmadis, fourth, to make UK aid, trade, and diplomatic engagement with Pakistan dependent on verifiable reforms to the treatment of Ahmadis, and fifth, to issue updated UK asylum guidance recognising the risks faced by Ahmadis and ensure that Ahmadi Muslims at risk of persecution have access to safe and legal protection routes to the UK.
