That this House notes with sadness the death of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway, at the age of 89, on Friday 28 August 2026 at the national hospital in Oslo; acknowledges the words of His Majesty King Charles III who sent his condolences on behalf of The Royal Family and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; reflects on the deep connection between the Norwegian and British Royal families and the fact that His late Majesty was a second cousin to Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; and extends its condolences to Her Majesty Queen Sonja, His Majesty King Haakon VIII, all the Royal family, the people of Norway and the Norwegian diaspora in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland at this time of sorrow and national grief.
