That this House congratulates the University of Stirling on being named Scottish University of the Year and UK Sports University of the Year in the Daily Mail University Guide 2027; notes that these awards recognise Stirling’s exceptional performance across academic excellence, student experience and sporting achievement; further notes that the Scottish University of the Year award reflects Stirling’s sustained rise in national rankings since 2023, its entry into the UK top 50, and its strong outcomes for students; acknowledges the University’s high-quality facilities, internationally diverse community, respected research strengths and commitment to ensuring that ability, not background, determines opportunity; further recognises that the UK Sports University of the Year award highlights Stirling’s longstanding reputation as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, supported by world-class facilities, national training centres and leadership in sports research and education; commends the University’s outstanding success at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where 22 Stirling athletes secured 24 medals, and notes its significant contribution to health, wellbeing and sports participation across the wider community; and pays tribute to the dedication of Stirling’s staff, students and alumni, whose collective efforts continue to strengthen the University’s reputation for excellence in both education and sport.
