That this House congratulates Hailes Quarry junior parkrun on reaching its first anniversary; recognises the tremendous contribution made by the volunteer team who have established and maintained a free, welcoming, inclusive and successful weekly event; warmly thanks each of the 225 volunteers that supported the event in its first year; notes that the Hailes Quarry junior parkrun has encouraged hundreds of people of all ages and abilities to take part in regular physical activity, improving health and wellbeing whilst fostering community spirit; commends the support of local participants, volunteers, linked primary schools and partners whose commitment has helped make the event a valued part of community life in Edinburgh South West; congratulates each of the 820 young people who completed the course in its first year; acknowledges the wider benefits that junior parkrun brings through tackling social isolation, promoting active lifestyles and providing opportunities for volunteering; thanks the London Marathon Foundation for its ongoing funding for junior parkrun across the UK, and supports its aim of getting one million children get active through this commitment; and wishes Hailes Quarry parkrun every success for the future as it continues to grow and inspire local residents to become more active.
