Imprisoned Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant workers

That this House condemns the imprisonment and abuse of workers at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Ukraine by Russian occupation forces; notes that workers are being coerced into accepting Russian citizenship and contracts with the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom); expresses grave concern that of the 11,000 workers at the plant prior to occupation, only 3,000 remain and 1,000 have been subjected to abuse and torture, placing the ZNPP's safety at serious risk; further condemns the abduction, torture, and show trials on fabricated charges of fifteen employees, members of the Nuclear Power and Industry Workers’ Union of Ukraine, Atomprofspilka, who have received sentences of up to 25 years; calls for the immediate release of Oleksii Brazhnyk, Serhii Korzh, Serhii Spartesnii, Serhii Potyng, Roman Matviichenko, Vadym Trachuk, Ruslan Lavryk, Olexandr Matyukhin, Natalia Shulga, Volodymyr Zverev, Lidiya Kachkariova, Rolan Mainov, Oleg Morochkovskyi, Dmytro Sergeiev and Larysa Merkulova; deplores the incarceration of Serhii Potyng, a member of the Central Council of the youth organisation of Atomprofspilka, who was abducted, tortured and sentenced to 20 years on fabricated charges of terrorism; calls on the Russian Federation to comply with its international human rights obligations, including respect for freedom of association and trade union rights; and urges the Prime Minister to make urgent representations to the Russian Federation, raise this matter with international partners to press for the release of all detained ZNPP workers, introduce full sanctions on Rosatom, and review the status of Russia in the International Atomic Energy Agency.
