Motion text

That this House recognises the profound human cost of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, especially the physical injuries, psychological trauma and lasting disabilities suffered by military personnel, former prisoners of war and civilians; acknowledges that the comprehensive rehabilitation and the economic reintegration of Ukraine's veterans and war wounded are critical components of the country's future stability, security, social cohesion and recovery; highlights the urgent need for accessible specialist treatment for burns, scarring, disfigurement, amputations and psychological issues such as PTSD and complex trauma; further recognises the importance of long-term single rehabilitation pathways, accessible transport, and tailored skills development; calls upon His Majesty's Government to demonstrate international leadership by supporting the establishment of the UK-Ukraine Coalition for Rehabilitation and Reintegration, bringing together public authorities, private enterprise, medical institutions, academic expertise and civil society organisations to coordinate expertise, investment, innovation and practical assistance; and further calls for this coalition to work in partnership with the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of the Government of Ukraine to develop sustainable, Ukrainian-led rehabilitation services and pathways to economic independence, ensuring that those who have sacrificed and suffered in defence of UK and European security are central to its recovery and future prosperity.
