Motion text

That this House notes that British Coal is offering redundancy terms to its workshop employees at Shafton, Bestwood, Tursdale and Ashington; further notes that the supply of work from British Coal units to these workshops has now ceased, leaving men to come to work to stand idle raising fears of compulsory redundancy, closure and privatisation in advance of the Government review of the coal industry and proposed White Paper; and therefore demands that normal working conditions be restored to British Coal workshops and that no further redundancies take place in advance of the coal industry reports and the consultation period currently under way.
