Suggested amendment
leave out from 'July' to end and add 'whilst recognising their continuing efforts on behalf of their fishing constituents through support for the necessary conservation measures embodied in the Sea Fish (Conservation) Bill thereby safeguarding the future viability of the fishing industry; also notes that the three honourable Members concerned were at the time of the lobby as always, looking after their constituents' best interests and on this occasion sitting on the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Bill Committee debating an important piece of legislation for Scotland.'.
Original motion text
That this House notes the absence of the honourable Members for Kincardine and Deeside, Aberdeen South and Ayr, at the fishing lobby on 7th July, in spite of the considerable fishing interests of their respective constituencies; can only assume the decision of the Scottish Conservative honourable Members concerned was based on the belief that discretion is the better part of valour; and notes that at the Report and Third Reading stages of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Bill, by their voting behaviour, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate whether their top priority is allegiance to the Conservative Party or representation of their constituencies' fishing interests.
