That this House notes with interest that according to the Library, the following honourable Members have served, continuously, on one or more Select Committees of the House for 12 or more consecutive years; the honourable Member for Westminster North, the honourable Member for Walsall South, the honourable Member for Blaydon, the honourable Member for Leicester West, the honourable Member for Dundee West, the honourable Member for Denton and Reddish, the honourable Member for Heywood and Middleton, the honourable Member for Wirral South, the honourable Member for Christchurch and the honourable Member for Staffordshire South; welcomes the depth of experience which such honourable Members are, therefore, able to bring to their Committee work on behalf of the House; but further notes that unlike several other honourable Members who have been debarred from continuing Select Committee service on the basis that they, too, have served for 12 years, all those honourable Members listed have been nominated by the Committee of Selection to serve once again upon Select Committees, either Departmental or of the House; and invites the Chairman of the Committee of Selection to withdraw his current nominations for all Select Committees so that these matters may be reconsidered.
