Motion text

That this House welcomes the publication of the Antisemitism World Report 1994; is concerned that it shows antisemitism is on the rise throughout Europe, with antisemitic incidents in Germany for 1993 recorded at 656 compared to 562 the previous year, that in Sweden the police recorded over 1,000 racial incidents by the summer of 1993 compared with 500 for the whole of 1992 and an 18.5 per cent. rise in antisemitic incidents in the United Kingdom in 1993; congratulates the Institute of Jewish Affairs for ensuring that the activities of antisemites and Holocaust-deniers does not go unnoticed or unchallenged; recalls that the Institute of Jewish Affairs in its Antisemitism World Report 1993 exposed the antisemitic statements of Irene Pivetti, now elected Speaker of the Italian Chamber of Deputies; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government and British parliamentarians to ensure that incitement to antisemitic and racial hatred is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
