Motion text

That this House congratulates Compassion in World Farming on its recent video expose of the suffering involved in the long distance transport of live farm animals; believes that animals should be sent to a slaughterhouse as near to the farm on which they were reared as possible; and urges the Government to press our European Union partners to adopt a maximum limit of eight hours on the journeys of animals being transported for slaughter.
