Motion text

That this House condemns the axing of the Arts Council's Arts and Disability Unit due in March 1995 following the Department of National Heritage's demand that the Council reduce their overheads by ú600,000; notes that the unit only costs ú50,000 to run and provides invaluable work in increasing disabled people's access to the arts and to jobs in the arts in line with the Arts Council's objective 'to increase the number and range of people experiencing the arts'; and believes that this decision undermines that objective and that the decision should be reversed and the precious expertise of the unit be retained.
