That this House congratulates Channel Four Television and Folio Productions for their making and screening of the compelling expose 'Racebusters' which showed the problems of everyday racial harassment in Britain, on the Black Bag Special series; believes that by exposing such rarely-filmed racial behaviour in the United Kingdom, conducted regularly between such groups as neighbours and council tenants, officials and traders, the programme has given a great service to the fight against such behaviour; hopes that Her Majesty's Government will take notice of the calls made by the victims seen in the film for greater protection to be afforded by the law to those who have suffered in this way; asks Her Majesty's Government also to note that the racially-harassed seen in the programme were not confined to members of the black community in Bristol, but involved nationals of other members of the European Union, as well as individuals from the local Chinese community and a number of white women whose children were of mixed race; and calls upon the Government to act quickly and introduce legislation which fully deal with those conducting such disgusting behaviour.
