VAT AND BENEFITS EFFECTS ON THOSE CAUGHT IN POVERTY TRAP
EDM #530
Tabled 03 February 1994
1993-94 Session
That this House expresses its concern about the effects of the Government's proposals to increase VAT and to cut the social security budget by ú2.5 billion on pensioners, one-parent families, and families caught in the poverty trap; and therefore calls on the Government either to abandon these proposals or to fully compensate those affected.
