Suggested amendment

leave out from 'convener' to end and add 'Keith Harding, who only holds his position after the cut of a pack of cards in this council with 10 Labour and 10 Conservative members; believes that the Council's daft decision to twin with a nuclear submarine is an insult to the sensible people of the district and to the excellent work on twinning done during the 1980 to 1992 period of Labour control; and condemns the Tories in the council for there stupid and ill-advised action.'.

Original motion text

That this House deplores the recent decision by Tory controlled Stirling District Council to adopt the Trident submarine HMS 'Victorious'; notes that this decision was passed by the casting vote of the council's convener; believes that the town's affiliation with a weapon of mass destruction soils Stirling's image; and condemns the authority for failing to consult the local community for their opinions on the subject.
