Motion text

That this House considers that freedom of worship is a fundamental principle which must never be compromised; notes that a new planning application has been made by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness for the use of the land at Bhaktivedanta Manor as a result of the establishment of a new access route; recalls that this application was made on 17th December 1993; notes that an enforcement notice had previously been served on the temple which will take effect on 16th March 1994; is aware that Hertsmere District Council has asked the applicant to allow the new application to be deferred so that it may be considered in June 1994; considers that it will be in the best interest of the national Hindu community and in keeping with the traditions of freedom of worship that the enforcement notice be suspended pending consideration of the new application; and believes that Bhaktivedanta Manor must remain open.
