Motion text

That this House notes the shoddy English of EDM 704; deplores the use of vulgar colloquil language in a formal motion concerned with education; is determined, nonetheless, that it should not be allowed to mask the shameless patronage of the Tory Party, as encapsulated in the appointment of the Chairman of Sun Alliance to head the new funding agency for schools; and calls upon the Government to give a higher priority to the improvement of standards than it does to the reward of its benefactors.

The first 6 Members who have signed to support the motion are the sponsors. The primary sponsor is generally the person who tabled the motion and has responsibility for it. The date shown is when the Member signed the motion.
