WIDOWED PARENTS' BENEFITS
EDM #316
Tabled 11 January 1994
1993-94 Session
There has been an amendment to this EDM.
That this House notes that whilst there is a widowed mother's allowance there is no such support for widowed fathers and their children, and that this arises from the benefit system's outdated assumptions about the roles of men and women as parents; believes that motherless children deserve the same opportunities for parental attention and the same living standards as fatherless children; and therefore calls upon the government to provide equal benefits for all widowed parents and their children.
