Motion text

That this House notes the Government's decision to ban the use of gags on deportees; recognises that while deportations may be necessary they should be carried out in the most humane way possible; and calls upon the Government to establish a genuinely independent review of the deportation procedures to include bringing the United Kingdom into line with the best European practices, considering the establishment of independent monitoring of deportations, restoring a full right of appeal to deportees, and re-examining the role of private security companies in deportations.
