Original motion text

That this House notes the enormous potential of the National Lottery in providing large additional sums of money for arts, sports, charities, heritage and millennium projects; believes the chosen operator must be a properly independent company capable of demonstrating relevant business experience and an appreciation of the associated regulatory environment; further notes the wider social and economic benefits of locating the National Lottery main licensee's operations centre in a development area; and therefore welcomes proposals to operate the National Lottery from headquarters on Merseyside.
